Started with one question: where do you shop?

MaWa African Market opened because the closest place to find proper shea butter, black soap, or a bag of egusi meant driving across town. We wanted Piedmont Heights to have its own aisle of home.

Everything on our shelves is chosen the same way: a customer asks for it, we track it down, and if it's good, it stays. That's why our selection keeps growing — spices from West Africa, produce sourced weekly, and beauty staples that actually work.

We're a small, family-run shop. If you don't see us behind the counter, we're probably in the back, restocking.
